"Night" and "Fare Well to Mansanar"
Life of a prisoner
In World War II things weren’t easy. There was allot of murdering and not many resources. The Nazis would kill anyone that gets on their way. Hitler had no mercy, especially on Jews. He decided to enslave allot of Jews, he also killed allot of innocent people. The books night and FTM are two good books. They both describe how the life of the prisoners was in the concentration camps.
In the book night, the prisoners were treated really badly, they would treat them like animals "poor devils, you are heading to the crematorium"(pg. 32). The Jews were really scared of what was going to happen to them and their family. Most of the families got separated and sent to different camps. In the book FTM the Japanese weren’t treated as bad as the Jews. The Japanese had a little more privileges. They were able to stay with their families and the Americans didn’t kill the Japanese like the Germans did to the Jews.
In these books we can see how bad a war can harm an individual, but it can also draw people closer. World war two started with Hitler and his hate towards Jews, but he also wanted to control the earth. He believed that the Jews were unsure blooded people. What he wanted to do was to get ride of all the "unsure" and start a world of where all the "pure blooded" would live. Elie Wiesel was a Jew that went to a camp and before that his life wasn’t very close to his family, specially his dad. Elie Wiesel was driven closer to his father "I was thinking no about death but about no wanting to be separated from my father"(pg. 82). Elie Wiesel wasn’t really close to his dad before anything happened. Elie didn’t have it easy in the concentration camps. The Germans wouldn’t let them shower; they would starve and were punished. Some Jews were beaten to death. When they would sleep. It was more than 2 people on each bed with no mattress and just a thin blanket.
The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor so the Americans were scared of the Japanese that lived in the U.S. because they thought the Japanese were terrorist and harm the people from the country. The government decided to relocate the Japanese that lived in the country just to make sure everyone was safe. In the book FTM the family was already together. They didn’t worry much about what was going to happen with their family members. They would work and get paid to provide for their own family. There was no punishing or starving. The place was a little crowded, but it was all in-between family so you weren’t that uncomfortable.
The war isn’t something good, but to some cases it can bring something good. Many people have died because there is war about respect, money, things that aren’t worth the spilled blood of innocent people. All the pain and sadness that it causes, its ourselves causing it. We are to greedy and all we think about is money. Our actions can cause harm to other people without knowing what the situation is. World War II brought a change to the planet, but this change could have been accomplished without having to spill innocent blood.
